9malls.com review of Amazon.com

Rating: ***** 4 out of 5 stars

Web site: http://www.Amazon.com

General thoughts:

Amazon is one of my favorite web sites other than WOOT.com and Overstock.com. Amazon has almost everything item you could possibly want. Prices are some of the lowest on the Internet, shipping costs are reasonable and sometimes free.

Shopping experience:

Just log onto you Amazon account and you're ready to shop. Most frequently I use Amazon to buy books since they have a huge selection, access to reviews, ability to browse their best sellers, have some of the lowest prices on the Internet, and one can actually look at scanned pages inside the book. Once you have found the item you want to purchase click on the "add to shopping basket link," next click on "proceed to checkout," you will then log in or create a new account. Next, enter your shipping address and credit card details and after this has been completed click on the "place your order" link. I've never had any problems with delayed shipments or any other complication with Amazon for that matter. Packages have always arrived on time and in prefect condition.

One minor detail that Amazon can improve on:

Amazon offers tons of products and information. OK, so why is this something that Amazon can improve on? The answer is it makes finding what you want occasionally difficult. For example enter the search term laptop on the Amazon.co.uk home page. If you entered the term correctly you will get a list of items relating to the term laptop, but only a few are actual laptop computers. The rest are totally unrelated kids toys and laptop accessories which I don't need. Or again search using the word computer you will get results mostly of computer books. Don't you think if you searched using the word computer one would get results of actual computers (desktops, laptops, notebooks, etc.)? The solution to this problem is when you search for anything using Amazon's site search be specific. If you're looking for a certain model number be sure to enter that along with the general search term. Another thing that Amazon does is it sometimes provides too much information making the shopping experience more confusing than it has to be. For example if I'm searching for Modona's Confessions on a Dance Floor CD I click on the link and there are about three pages of information about the CD. There's an official Amazon.com review, there are Amazon user reviews, listen to samples options, gives suggestions for other CDs, sales rank, and finally it gives Amazon users the option of buying the CD new or used.

These details that Amazon.com could improve on are for the most part petty and more of a downside of having one of the most expansive and informative sites on the Internet. In this instance the Amazon site is a victim of their own overachieving successful company.

Negatives:

High shipping costs compared to some alternative sites.

Final thoughts:

Shop Amazon if you want a huge selection of products at a low price and have them shipped reliably worldwide.
